Box Happy

I've been playing around making some more box samples for the welcome gift brownies we're going to be leaving in our guests rooms when they arrive the night before our wedding (people will start arriving five weeks tomorrow - eek!).

This was today's creation.

I think I prefer this one to the one I made previously but the scallop edging is time consuming.

I also think I'll make the lid a little shallower so you can see more of the night of navy box underneath.

What does everybody else think? Still missing something?

Managed to grab an hour for some wedding crafting tonight.

Didn't want to start something too involved so I decided to make some covers for the wine lists.

My hubby to be and I are self confessed wine snobs so we've gone with the corkage option at the wedding and have spent the last few months happily drinking our way through a lot of wine - all in the name of research :)

We've decided and I thought it would be nice to put a card on each table with the wine details and some tasting notes.

I've tried to carry the theme from the welcome card through.

I think I'm going to round the corners - what do you think?

And as for the wines - well we're having a French Chablis and a Shiraz Cab Sav blend from Australia - a vineyard we actually visited this year. There will also be a champagne and a pudding wine.

Flowering Thank You

We currently have 72 bottles of champagne in our house :)

My friend's mum works in a well know supermarket and we were able to combine her 20% staff discount with a recent 25% off when you buy 6 bottles promotion to buy all the champagne we needed for the wedding - happy days.

I quickly whipped up a thank you card for her which is very similar to that which I made for my Grandma's birthday - just using up some Daffodil delight card stock.

I think it is a really bright and cheerful card and took just a few minutes to make with same Flower Shop stamp set and punch as before combined with the Thank You sentiment from Four You.
I am really enjoying finding ways to make the same stamp sets create different looks.

Orders of Service

Well today was my hair and make up trial - which apart from the artist being 30 minutes late (not the best of starts) went really well.

While we were having our hair and make up done my mum, bridesmaid and I were playing around with coming up with ideas for the order of service cover.

It didn't take long before we stumbled upon this one which I love but think may be too complicated to duplicate 60+ times!

What do you think? Too much?

Box Brownie

To go with the card I showed yesterday, I want to leave a little gift for each of our wedding guests in their room when then check into the hotel on Friday night.

My bridesmaid is a master baker and makes the most amazing brownies which she has offered to make the day before - these are uber brownies and I know will go down a storm.

I decided to make a little box to put the brownies in which would match the welcome card.

I turned to the amazing Sam at who makes beautiful boxes and after watching far to many of her fab You-Tube videos I decided this box fitted the bill.

I missed out the window as I like to build the suspense on what is inside but the other dimensions are the same as in Sam's video.
I'm not 100% happy with it at the moment - what do you think it needs to lift it a bit more?
I'm also a bit concerned that it might be a bit too small - perfect for one peice of brownie but I really want to fit two peices in each.
I'll have a think before making any more but I'm pretty happy with my first attempt, it coordinates pretty well with the card. I'd be happy to check into a hotel and find these waiting for me.

A Million and One Hellos!

....Or at least that is what it feels like!

We have a lot of guests arriving the night before our wedding, enough to take over the whole hotel for both nights (it is only small), so I decided it would be nice to leave everybody a little note of welcome in their rooms when they check in.

I was inspired by a card I found on Lucy Tustian's blog

I continued the wedding colours theme of navy blue and silver.

I had a little production line set up in the kitchen and Eva loved helping me press the punch to round the corners.
The cards are quite dinky, 8cm by 8cm but just the right size for a little note of welcome.
The Hello sentiment is from the fab Four You set which I also used on the Birthday Card I made for my grandma.

After a few hours of happy crafting I had the 27 I needed.

Just need to write them all out now.

Flowering Birthday

I have just very quickly put together a birthday card for my Grandma who is turning 83 next week.

I'm pretty new to paper craft and stamping so don't have a big stash of stamps and ink (yet!) so I pulled out the Flower Shop stamp set which I've used quite a few times now but think I managed to get a different look again despite using the same colours and stamps again.

I cut off the front of the card about an inch from the edge and then layered punched flowers along the edge so that some of them over lapped.
Hopefully it will brighten up an old lady's day!

Happy Hour Cards

Two friends celebrate birthday's this week so I quickly put together to very simple but effective cards using my new Happy Hour stamp set.

Most of my craft materials are in wedding themed colours at the moment - hence the style but I think that they really work!

I added some rhinestones to the bubbles on the Martini Glass to add a little something to what would be an otherwise quite flat card

And added a lovely matching sentiment inside (excuse the fat finger!)

And here is the second card using the same stamps.

They literally took just minutes to create and look really effictive I think.

Early Thank You

We recieved our first decline for the wedding at the weekend.

It was expected as my cousin is moving to Uganda for a year to teach out there and as she is only leaving a month before the wedding, we understood that she wouldn't be able to make it.

She sent us a lovely note and a beautiful bowl as an early wedding present.

As I knew she was leaving shortly, I wanted to send her a thank you note before she left rather than wait until after the wedding.

Using the Flower Shop Stamp Set that I used for Eva's thank you cards, I created a quick thank you card which tied into our wedding theme.

I layered up three pieces of cream card stock on top of each other and then stamped a selection of random flowers in versamark ink and then embossed with silver embossing powder. I then lined the sheets up again filled in some of the gaps with Night of Navy ink.

You can really see the impact of the embossed silver here.

The stamped sheets were then layered up on backings of navy card stock and I finished off with a punched image of a contrasting silver flower on navy card.

A little stamping inside was also added to continue the look

I'm really happy with the end result of this card and hopefully my cousin will like it too!

Decorating Candles

Our wedding centre pieces are going to be hurricane vases with a candle in surrounded by flowers, a bit like in this picture but with blue and white flowers.

So I decided I wanted to have a go at decorating the candle to tie in with our overall wedding theme so that was yesterday's project.

I bought a cheap pillar candle and then stamped the same pattern as we'd used for our invitations onto white tissue paper. I heat embossed this in both silver and in blue, as this was a tester and I wanted to see which I preferred.

The stamped image is then adhered to the candle by very gently heating it up with the heat tool so that the wax just melts through the paper. It is harder than it sounds and you need to get just the right amount of heat so the wax doesn't drip down the candle.

Anyway - here is the finished result.

I quite like the silver effect, the blue is too light for our colour scheme but I think I'll have another in a navy ink before deciding which I prefer.

What do you think?
