I am a little bit obsessed with heat embossing on red card with gold. It just screams Christmas to me.

This bling card uses Real Red and Pool Party. 

That gorgeous snow flake is from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set, the word Christmas also comes from that set too. 

I love the fact that you can build up your sentiments using that set combined with the Christmas Greetings Thinlets. 

My Christmas Card stash is growing nicely now - who else is already working on their Christmas cards?

No Cut Magnetic Gift Box using Pretty Petals DSP by Stampin' Up - Video Tutorial

I really like these boxes, they came about because I needed a box for a friend's birthday gift, she got the Calypso Coral version, and I wanted to see if it was possible to make a box of this size as a no cut version from a single peice of card stock. 

A 'no cut' box is made simply by folding the card in clever ways. These are made from a single piece of card stock. 

The beauty of this sort of box however is the folding means most of the structural elements are double thickness making the subsequent box very sturdy - was that a bit too geeky? I am an engineer in my day job!

The boxes are a really good size, my friend's gift was a small purse, but they would also house a lot of other things. 

They snap close using some powerful nano magnets. 

My versions use Calypso Coral and Mint Macaron card stock and they are both decorated using some of the bolder patterns from the ever versatile Pretty Petals DSP.

The sentiment comes from the Handmade for You set.

Hope you like the box and give it a go yourself - it might look complicated but once you get the hang of the corner folds, it is really straight forward - I promise!

You may not have noticed but Stampin' Up launched a fab new die in the seasonal catalogue for these lovely square pillow boxes.

The video at the end of the post shows you just how it works and of course I've added my own little twist with a handle so you can hang them up.

My thinking was you could hand them from a Christmas tree.

I made them in a few different colour combos but think that the Cherry Cobbler heat embossed in Gold is my favourite.

Thank you to everybody that entered the competition I ran at the weekend - congratulations to the lucky winner who wins this little Marina Mist themed bundle of goodies.

I used a very high tech way to draw the winner, I printed out all the comments from my blog, YouTube and email, cut them out and then asked my three year old daughter, Eva to pick one out of a bowl!

"At first I liked the white one best but then after another look I think I prefer the silver, I like the additional 'wishing you/ Christmas' parts on that one."

I've been seeing a huge amount of lovely cards using a handmade shadow box on the internet recently and when I needed a gift box for a bracelet I was giving to a friend for her birthday, it seemed like a great idea to combine the two which is how today's project evolved. 

After making the shadow box, I made a sleeve using a coordinating card stock that matched the DSP I'd chosen from the Pretty Petals stack - I really do like the patterns on this paper. 

The matching bow is made really simply using the Bow Builder punch from Stampin' Up. I don't use this useful punch enough. 

The gift box went down really well with my friend, almost more than the bracelet!

Today is a special day, a group of my fellow Stampin' Up demonstrators have got together to form a Blog Hop, a continous link through our individual blogs to showcase a range of gorgeous products from the Seasonal Catalogue.

I shared this set of cards and matching gift box a little while ago with you all and it went down really well, I got so much lovely feed back that I thought I'd make a similar set that would fit in the same box. If you'd like to see those cards in a bit more detail and how I made the gift box, I will add that video at the end of this post.

As regular readers will know, I am not a massively experienced crafter and I keep coming across new techniques I want to try. For these cards I decided to try out the camouflage inlayed die cut technique.

I just love the subtle results this technique gives. 

As well as the camouflage technique I also did a version with the die cut word topped in silver foil card stock and another where I just left the Whisper White top visable.

So it's Friday and you're expecting a video from me, I am sorry I'm late in publishing it today, Eva decided she didn't want to sleep last night so I was in zombie mode this morning and jsut didn't get a change to publish this first thing.

The good news is that I have not one, but two video tutorials for you to day!

The first is a how to for the beautiful little box. I've made it to hold some matching gift tags, I find these always go down well as gifts in the run up to Christmas and also sell well at craft fairs.

The box is a really good size however and would also nicely hold lots of different things.

I made two different colour combinations, a traditional theme using Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow and a more contemporary version with Smokey Slate, Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy. 

The beautiful wreath is built up using Wonderous Wreath by Stampin' Up - it comes with matching framelits which makes cutting out the shape a breeze - the words Noel and Joy also come with that framelit set.

As I say in the video, I made a few different samples, one using DSP (Bohemian - still a favourite!) and two using card stock and tone on tone stamping.

I also made one Christmas design and two more generic versions. 

Each is perfectly sized to hold two bars of Green and Black 35g chocolate - a indulgance treat size.

Vintage Leaves Handmade Gift Box Tutorial, August Thank You Gift

 

As you may remember last month, I've started sending out a thank you gift each to everybody that has shopped for Stampin' Up products with me the previous month. I use the accumulated hostess credits to help me do this so please do remember to use the hostess code shown at the top of my blog if your order is less than £150.

 

I like to make something special to package the gifts in and this month this is what I came up with.

 

I think it was a quite autumnal day when I was crafting, hence the look of this box.

 

I've used the lovely Vintage Leaves set, I actually used every stamp in the set!

 

I made a random pattern using a different shade of green for each leaf on a base of Very Vanilla. I also sneaked in a little Tip Top Taupe so it wasn't too green.

 

The Vintage Leaves set does have matching Framelits and I used these to cut out the large maple leaf as a tag.

 

I added a flash of colour Tangelo Twist for the THANKS in the middle of the tag.

Sometimes it is nice to have a few little note cards to send a little message to somebody to say 'hello', 'thinking of you', or even 'thanks'.

These 3 x 3 cards are made using the Kinda Eclectic set - I love that bright and bold star burst design, I've stamped this one in Crushed Curry. 

The butterfly comes from the same set, how pretty is that cross hatched pattern? I've stamped the butterfly in Island Indigo which matches the card base. 

A few rhinestones lifts the butterly body and a small sentiment finishes off a small but perfectly formed card.

Handmade Pocket Notebook with Magnet Closure

Nicely decorated notebooks are so easy to make and always go down really well as presents.

These ones are pretty special, they have a wrap around closure that snaps into place with a magnet. I saw the original concept on a German lady's blog but I can't find it again to share her lovely version.

I made one using the Lots of Joy Stamp Set and the Merry Moments DSP stack on a Cherry Cobbler base.

I'm going to use this one for all my Christmas planning.

 I know not everybody is into Christmas planning in September though so also made a more generic version. This one uses a gorgeous paper from the Pretty Petals DSP set and Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set. The card stock base is Basic Black with accents of Calypso Coral and Pacific Point.
