Homemade Tomato Relish - Recipe Inspiration

Homemade Tomato Relish - Recipe Inspiration

Thank you for all the lovely comments you made about yesterday's box. I am so glad you like it.

As promised today I am sharing my recipe for the homemade Tomato Relish/Chutney which inspired the need for a nice box to make them even more giftable.

The recipe is one we have been making in our family for years and years- my grandfather used to grow a lot of tomatoes and I mean I lot so I think this probably evolved as another way to use them up!

It goes fantastically well will meat and cheeses and I also really like on burgers.

This recipe is incredibly simple, watch to the video below to see just how easy it is.

Ingredients:
10-12 soft tomatoes.
2 white onions, finely sliced.
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced.
2tbsp sugar.
1tsp of Fennel seeds.
Pinch of chilli flakes.
70ml white wine vinegar.

I also made a hand stamped label - I stamped the word relish in Crushed Curry ink using the huge Larger than Life alphabet stamp set and the the tomato over the top in Real Red using the much smaller back to basic's alphabet set.

I think it looks really striking and modern.

Any way - here is the recipe video, I hope you enjoy and that it inspires you to give it a go.

  2. Hi Caroline!
I was just watching the video again (after writing down the ingredients off here) while writing out the steps on a recipe card and caught the 2 tablespoons of sugar isn't included above - I just wanted to let you know in case it was missed. :) Thanks again for sharing! Excited to get cooking and gifting! xo - McCine (or "rumpshakeit on YouTube/Google* 😊
